Song Buddy

Overview

Song Buddy is built on a simple principle: your music stays on your device. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no cloud uploads of any kind.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

Song Buddy does not collect:

• Audio files or stems you create
• Personal information of any kind
• Usage data, analytics, or crash reports sent to us
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data

2. Audio Processing

All audio separation and processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's MLX framework. Your audio files are never uploaded to any server. The AI model that performs stem separation is downloaded once to your device and runs locally thereafter.

3. Microphone Access

Song Buddy requests microphone access only if you use the live input feature — for example, to plug in an instrument or sing along and hear yourself through the built-in effects. Audio captured through the microphone is processed in real time on your device and is never recorded to disk or transmitted anywhere.

You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device's Settings.

4. Files and Storage

The .songbuddy files you create are stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud Drive if you choose to save them there. We have no access to iCloud Drive or to any files you create.

App settings and input preferences are stored locally in your device's standard UserDefaults storage. They never leave your device.

5. Third-Party SDKs

Song Buddy does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. The only external frameworks used are Apple's own system frameworks (AVFoundation, MLX, BackgroundAssets).

6. Children's Privacy

Song Buddy does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no data is collected at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. We will never introduce data collection without clearly communicating it first.
